Take the Leap
If you’re a graduating senior, then we’re sure you are well acquainted with the most dreaded question every senior is asked… “so, what are you doing once you graduate?”
Unless you already have it all figured out to the T…. it’s something that is already on your mind every second of the day. We know that no matter how many times you say you’re moving to LA to become a backup dancer for Beyoncé, or you’re undergoing leg-lengthening surgery to improve your chances of becoming a Rockette, you know these are just answers to laugh off the looming weight on your shoulders.
Instead of dwelling on the fact that many of your friends are leaving for 4 year universities to study subjects you’ve never even been tempted to look up the definition of, sit down and think about what makes you happy. Look at your online browser history, look at your bank statements and see where you spend a large chunk of your limited cash flow… Is your history filled with links to beauty bloggers? Do your bank statements say Sephora more times than you want to admit? Are you the go-to person your friends call when they need beauty help? Is your hair constantly changing to colors all of the rainbow?
Instead of looking at make-up and hair as a hobby, make a career out if it!
The beauty industry is constantly growing and developing. There this no limit on where you can take your cosmetology license. Although working in a salon as a stylist is a common choice, many cosmetologists venture outside the box. Some become stylists for the stars, some teach and some enter the corporate world. There are always new trends and technique to learn, there’s always new ways to challenge yourself.
So instead of leg-lengthening surgeries to get closer to the Rockettes or attempting to join the Ringling Brothers by auditioning as a trapeze artist, venture into these worlds by becoming their stylist.
No matter which direction you choose to go, you won’t regret entering such a rewarding industry.
