General Information

Admission Requirements:
State law requires an applicant for a Cosmetology License to have a high school diploma or an equivalent G.E.D. certificate prior to application for license.

Transfer Student:
Appropriate credit will be granted for hours completed at a licensed cosmetology school.

Counseling:
Counseling is provided by the staff for any student requesting or needing it, concerning student problems, progress and grades.

Placement:
The school will assist any student or graduate with placement, but does not guarantee employment.

Available Space, Facilities and Equipment:
Our school has the necessary equipment a student would need in order to complete their course in Cosmetology. Good lighting, hydraulic chairs, central air, separate working stations, student lunch room, student lockers, separate classroom area and dispensary.

Minnesota & Wisconsin Cosmetology Licensing Information

We offer a complete 1550 hour course in Cosmetology, which is the art and science of beauty care. It involves the care of the skin, hair, scalp and nails. Students receive classes in theory, which gives them a basic scientific knowledge of various subjects such as chemistry, anatomy, physiology, hair cutting, hair styling, permanent waving, hair coloring, manicuring, facials, pin curling, roller placement, and salon management. In addition, practical classes are also given prior to clinic floor training. After successful completion of our course and passing the state board examination, several career options become open to the licensed cosmetologist, such as manager operator, or cosmetic technician, competition or platform stylist, salon owner, salon manager, or school instructor. This course is designed with the individual in mind, keeping up with the current trends in the field of Cosmetology.

1550 TOTAL HOURS - MINNESOTA  |  1800 TOTAL HOURS - WISCONSIN

240 hours basic instruction and pre-clinical training skills in:
Related science, business and salon management, safety and sanitation, other elected subjects.

180 hours of additional instruction in related theory and sciences.

1130 hours applied sciences and clinical skills in:
Shampooing, scalp and hair conditioning, hair design and shaping, chemical hair control, hair coloring, hair styling, facials and makeup, manicures.

250 hours of additional instruction in related theory and sciences for Wisconsin Students.

Full-Time:
Approximately 10 months, at 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, for a total of 1550 hours.

School Hours:
Monday 11:30 am to 8 pm; Tuesday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm

Graduation Requirements

Cosmetologist
Upon satisfactory completion of the course, the student is given a school test in which they must pass with 75% or better in order to graduate. The school test consists of all phases of Cosmetology. After successfully completing the 1,550 hour course and passing the school examination, the student is awarded a diploma from the school. Upon passing their state examination, they become a licensed cosmetologist.

Grading System:
Students are graded by percentage points, both in theory and practical. This is done prior to each level of advancement and upon completion of each subject.

The school uses the following grading scale:

A - 95-100%

B - 85-94%

C - 75-84%

Below 75% - Unsatisfactory
